Team Kickoffs

There is no substitute for getting a large group of people together to talk about company plans.

There is no substitute for getting a large group of people together to talk about company and department plans. But that was just the beginning. The chatting, eating, scavenger hunt, and laughing was the best part.

We had a sales kickoff meeting scheduled for January, but Omicron had other plans and we had to postpone it until this week. The energy and the discussions amongst people, many meeting each other for the first time, was amazing. I was able to sit back and watch a lot of comradery of the teams build. There simply is no substitute for in-person interaction.

This meeting was a great chance for new employees to learn the history of Searchspring as well as what each team is working on for 2022. This year is going to be an amazing year for us as a company as we continue our focus to Give Merchandisers Superpowers, thereby allowing our customers to provide the best customer experience possible on their sites.

Searchspring has six offices spread across three different countries. We have semi-mastered the ability to operate in a distributed environment. We had to be before COVID, so the switch wasn’t too difficult, but achieving the same level of ‘team’ feeling is quite different. You can try to mimic with Zoom or Gather, but those only get you so far. While it isn’t cost-effective to do what we did all the time, the benefits far outweigh the cost associated.

The sales kickoff actually kicks off a return of sorts as next week I will be traveling to eTail West. For anyone going, I would love to meet up while there, so either hit reply and let’s pick a time or come stop by our booth.
