All Good Things Come To an End… Hello 2021

All good things come to an end.

Shortly 2020 will be coming to an end and many will be talking about joining gyms and their new found keto-whole30-paleo-atkins-dokan-zone diet and how this year will be different. But before we get into 2021 let’s look back at 2020.

While 2020 was an amazing year, it had a few downs. On a personal level I lost my grandmother in April and my trip in March to visit her was canceled so I never got to say goodbye in person. Then in November I lost my mother-in-law to her third run with cancer. In between was countless canceled trips including taking the kids to Hawaii for their first time in May.

This all happened while we learned that ordering take out isn’t made for all foods. There is a reason pizza and asian foods prevailed prior to the pandemic and why delivered mexican was not a thing.

One can focus on the negative aspects of 2020 as a whole. Many people were adversely affected by the pandemic, but dwelling on that has little benefit and in reality it is a pretty amazing year for Searchspring as a company.

We supported the most explosive year in ecommerce history, where many now just call it commerce.

Our clients were thrown for a loop in March while no one understood exactly what was to come and our team supported struggling sites. Both struggling with keeping up with demand and struggling with no demand.

We accomplished all this during a quick pivot to remote and distributed working conditions that some found enjoyable and others are still losing their mind.

How did we accomplish so much in an otherwise crappy year? By being a strong team that has one goal and one mission while embracing the values we set. We have one of the greatest companies and cultures out there because of each employee. Cultures are built by assembling the right people together but execution only happens when each person understands their role and how they help deliver the one goal.

It is each employee that makes working here the only place I wish to be and with a team that I know would do anything for each other. Nothing replaces engaged employees on a single mission, to give Merchandisers Superpowers.

Each and every employee is responsible for the fabulous year we just had. 2020 was amazing for our company and for our clients, so much that I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store for us.

Happy New Year!
