Searchspring Acquired by Scaleworks to Take the Relevancy Platform to More Brands and Retailers

When I co-founded Searchspring in 2007, I had a vision of creating a platform that would provide state-of-the-art site search and merchandising technology to online retailers, a technically challenging niche I was hugely passionate about. Soon after launching, we realized there was massive demand for advanced technology to meet the challenges of running a successful ecommerce site.

As it turns out, delivering accurate product search results that optimize conversion and profitability isn’t as easy as plugging in an open-source search engine. Most ecommerce platforms fall short in this key area of customer experience and site performance, and Searchspring became a thriving business filling this gap. As the company has grown, we’ve set our sights beyond search. Searchspring’s Relevancy Platform now enables merchants to control and automate the display of products across their entire site, from product listings on search and category pages to product recommendations across the home page and product detail pages.

Searchspring serves a wide range of customers who are increasingly becoming rapidly-growing global brands, some of whom transact over $100M in online sales. Our technology has powered over 9.2 billion search and merchandising requests since inception.

Today, I am very excited to announce that Searchspring is now positioned to execute against that vision with significantly more ambition and focus. After 11 years of operating independently as a bootstrapped company, Searchspring is now part of Scaleworks – a home that will provide the foundation for continued reinvestment into the business and fuel future growth.

I personally want to extend a heart-felt thank you to our customers, our partners and, most importantly, our employees who have tirelessly worked to build a great product and earn a reputation for consistently delivering outstanding service and support. The Searchspring culture is rooted in team members supporting each other while always keeping our focus on our customers. As a founder, I couldn’t be more proud of our achievements over the past decade. Searchspring has a world-class team of dedicated professionals that believe in our customers and relentlessly support their success online.

As part of the acquisition I will step down as CEO and pass the torch over to our new CEO, Peter Messana. Peter brings a wealth of leadership experience to our team and shares our passion for search and ecommerce, having been a technology-focused retail CEO previously. Click to hear directly from Peter.

Thank you again to our fantastic team, customers and industry partners!

Sincerely,

Gareth Dismore
